Panasonic Corp., a major Japanese electronics company, said on Friday that its internal network was breached by an unidentified actor. Following an investigation, the company concluded that certain data had been accessed during a recent intrusion. Various Japanese media outlets reported that the attackers were able to obtain sensitive information from the company.
According to reports, the hacker(s) were able to access the company's server for over four months. The breach was discovered after the company detected anomalous network traffic. Over the past couple of years, many of Japan's tech companies have experienced network intrusions carried out by China-sponsored hackers. The attacks were carried out by groups known as the People's Liberation Army.
